Caregivers may experience feelings of loss and grief

Plan for extreme weather and other emergencies
The summer months can bring heat waves, fires and hurricanes. Be sure you're prepared with the supplies and strategies you'll need to help keep a person living with dementia safe during a disaster or evacuation. Learn more.

Diet may help reduce risk of Alzheimer's or another dementia
People who closely follow the MIND diet, which emphasizes brain-healthy foods like leafy greens, berries, nuts, whole grains and olive oil, were less likely to develop Alzheimer's or another dementia even if they started the diet later in life, new research suggests. Researchers cautioned that adherence to the diet is not guaranteed to prevent dementia but said the results show it's never too late to adopt a healthy diet. Learn more.

Late stage of Alzheimer's can last from several weeks to several years
As Alzheimer's advances, intensive, around-the-clock care is usually required, and the needs of the person living with the disease will change. During the late stage, a caregiver's role will focus on preserving quality of life and dignity. Learn more.
